An Oxymoronic Gift

When I was gifted Fair and Lovely on Women's Day
Am i thankless? Am i a feninist? Am i just plain moronic?
Whatever......I simply don't care.
With all the hype on Women's day - this year a particular instance outraged me.
I was gifted a cosmectic gift pack on Women's day....Opened the Gift...phew....I was so angry and outraged.....on 2 things and even 3
1. Gifting is defn symbolism and not just tiring tokenism
2. Personal hygiene /Cosmetic products for a gift always makes me question the etiquette of the giver - unless its a friends or family your intimate with or atleast share a casual rapport
3. Fair and lovely is defn one product which has always degraded Indian Women , probably one of the most powerful and effective ad campaign but defn the one which has caused the most damage on the psyche of the Indian women . The audocity and boldness with which each of these campaigns associate happiness and success in life for a women with a fairer skin. A multi national that gets away with this for years in India, Imagine airing similar campaign anywhere else in the Us or other markets where it will be defn sued and penalised for racisim .

This was simply so oxymoronic - Fair and lovely and Women's day . It defeated very logic of celebarting Women's Day . Womens Day is probably the best day to liberate yourself from such stereotypes and false standards that society imposes upon you. Love yourself ,get comfortable with who ever you are and Express yuorself without inhibitions.
