Its 3 months since i watched the movie 'Revolutionery Road ' and often i catch myself thinking about it . How the realities and mundane routines of life overtake true dreams and even leave you with a sense of guilt and deception if you try to take the risk to live up your smaller dreams.
Will this battle ever end ? the feeling of.. the life im living is not good enough for me ..... I deserve a better job ... to live in a better town....a more loving spouse...
Then comes the question of choices...when the guy settles for a better position in the same job that sees so meaninglessin the first place. When you try to get comfortable with what you have , though that seems the more rational thing to do, to live in the moment and live in peace -It also hurts becuase its killing the dream that makes the mundane bearable.
Not many of us are lucky to have our dreams fulfilled ..even though some seem so small and unfair that its not reachable ...but i believe its better living in hope and dreaming, then settling to the realities .
But for Kate it seemed so misfortunate....and rather ironical......she lost a life for a dream that probably was not even as good as the beautiful life she actually had.
Often when life seems so settled and perfect... the perfection begins to hurt....
What am i saying ? dunno....just know im special and the battle continues....

Inhuman......Ghastly.....Disgusting...this has to Stop!
This week has been very shameful and painful i would say for our country . 3 instances of inhuman abuses have surfaced in this country known for its family values and culture.
Fathers raping their own daughters . Shudder to think of how these girls would have lived in such situations - the hurt,shame ,pain they would be carrying . No punishment would be good enough.
Im a ardent admirer of Oprah winfrey and have watched the many episodes she would have done on child abuse cases but it seemed such an western / american evil .
The truth is im sure India has so much more of these cases but the social and family setups probably only make it even more difficult for victims to come out in public .
Kudos and my hearlt felt prayers for the girls who have come out and disclosed their agony.
And the power and confidence it has given the others to come out.
Truly the responsibility of every individual is very high to stop this completely.
As a parent do all you need to to protect your child , start with educating yourself and your child on this evil.

An Oxymoronic Gift
When I was gifted Fair and Lovely on Women's Day
Am i thankless? Am i a feninist? Am i just plain moronic?
Whatever......I simply don't care.
With all the hype on Women's day - this year a particular instance outraged me.
I was gifted a cosmectic gift pack on Women's day....Opened the Gift...phew....I was so angry and outraged.....on 2 things and even 3
1. Gifting is defn symbolism and not just tiring tokenism
2. Personal hygiene /Cosmetic products for a gift always makes me question the etiquette of the giver - unless its a friends or family your intimate with or atleast share a casual rapport
3. Fair and lovely is defn one product which has always degraded Indian Women , probably one of the most powerful and effective ad campaign but defn the one which has caused the most damage on the psyche of the Indian women . The audocity and boldness with which each of these campaigns associate happiness and success in life for a women with a fairer skin. A multi national that gets away with this for years in India, Imagine airing similar campaign anywhere else in the Us or other markets where it will be defn sued and penalised for racisim .

Womens Day is probably the best day to liberate yourself from such stereotypes and false standards that society imposes upon you. Ads on Kids - Always works for targetting parents.
As a mom of a 4 year old , there are 2 ads on air currently that i so dearly identify with .
The current airtel ad - where the small boy is punished in his naughty corner and sneakes out to call his dad from the toy phone and complain about his mom . The 'belief ' comes out so strongly
a child's belief and trust - that sometimes or rather always scares you as a parent. Very real emotions and connects brilliantly.

The second is the one i noticed this morning of LIC housing, where the little girl scribbles on the wall and dad stays cool reading the paper . Frankly i first thought it was a paint ad then turned out to be a housing loan ad that kindles the need for u to have your own home. Unable to get the link.
The common trend - identifies and fits into my stage in life. Both focus on the kid but speak strongly to the parent. Stirs emotions so strongly - positive and powerful.

Just Do It! and I Finally Did!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sad yet Triumphant. Ive been on the online space for years now . I read blogs everyday but the truth is ive never blogged . Cant find a valid excuse to expalin this . But today it just suddenly happened - I started my Blog. Am as excited as a kid with a new toy. What will I blog on ? Anything that -hits my mind-touches my heart -pisses me off-makes me laugh-takes me high-dumps me down .....just anything feel like.
I called it Effervescence after thinking of certain things that give me complete peace and bubbling joy
Stand on the beach and watch the forthy waves wet my feet
See My son blow bubbles
Hold a glass of sparkling wine
just life thats filled with enthusiasim , excitement , hope and liveliness.....a heart that bubbling with dreams , love and the sparkle of joy.
